The NGOs condemn the incident of violence against LGBTI activists in Shurnukh

A number of Armenian NGOs have recently condemned the case of violence against LGBT activists in the village of Shurnukh.

In the statement released by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF), in particular, it was said that it condemns “local” attitudes towards any territory of Armenia, no matter it is manifested by the residents of that area or by the others.

EPF specifically notes that inclusion of children and juveniles in the process of violence is unacceptable and must be a separate subject of the investigation.

Taking into account the fact that a person is of a supreme value, that the guarantees for dignity of a person, for protection by law and for exercising his/her rights and freedoms are the main criteria of democracy and legal state, EPF requires an immediate, impartial and complete investigation of the incident and punishment of guilty persons,” the EPF statement says.
